amazon Ageha - Bonten

The origin of the Japanese traditional percussion instrument, Wadaiko, goes back to the Jomon period, when it was used as a means of distant communication. Even today, it plays an essential role in stage performances such as Kabuki, Noh, and Shinto rituals such as festivals, Kagura (sacred music and dancing performed at shrines), and prayers. It is a very familiar percussion instrument to the Japanese people.
Bonten, the coed Wadaiko Team, strives to open new doors for this instrument, exploring free and new original styles, adding the melody of Shinobue (Japanese flute) to the rhythm of the Wadaiko.

In their debut album "BONTEN", they displayed the origin of their unprecedented, unique Taiko playing style. In their second album "GAIFU", they created a florid atmosphere featuring both strength and silence. Now, in their third album "AGEHA", they showcase the free-spirited "present moment" picture of themselves, flying high with the wind of God beneath their wings. This album is filled with the happiness of living a strong life, and they tell us that roads, which lead us into the future, will open only if we live today to our best.
The soul, to beat the drum without any desire, just selflessly, is the root of the Japanese spirit.
We sincerely hope you enjoy the present tense BONTEN, as they are ever changing, moving up to the top.
